My time in Dubai was incredible but, at the same time, I know that there’s been some negativity in the news recently regarding the poor working conditions and the lack of democracy in the UAE etc etc. In that sense, I think it’s important to address that there are problems still to be solved here (as there are in every country!) but the tourist side of life in Dubai is simply fantastic and I want to share my experience with you guys!
Now I can safely say that of all the hotels I’ve ever stayed in, this one was the most extravagant. I mean, the entire bathroom was marble… MARBLE! I truly felt like royalty at the Jumeriah Zabeel Saray, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious break in Dubai. Quick tip though, book at off peak times otherwise the prices are extortionate. We went during August which was a KILLER temperature-wise and also happened to be in the midst of Ramadan, but I don’t regret a thing: I got an awesome tan and I got to experience a major cultural tradition, bonus!
We visited all the major attractions: the souks, the museums, the malls, the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab, but I have to say the best day was the one spent in Wild Wadi water park. We were actually having SO much fun that none of us even thought to take a photo! But despite not having any visual memories of this day, I’ll never forget the image of my parents trying to get out of a duo rubber ring…
The malls were insane here, which made for lots of happy Manjunath’s because it’s a well known fact that we LOVE to shop. In one mall, there was even a theme park. I decided to ride the roller coaster thinking that it wouldn’t be too extreme, but I was mistaken… it was ridiculously fast and I was so impressed that they could build something like that inside of a mall! There was huge ice skating rinks, bowling alleys, cinemas and even a waterfall. The arabs sure know how to push the boat out!
Overall, our stay in Dubai was a special one. We splurged on luxury, and it was completely worth it! Plus there was a ‘Cheesecake Factory’ in the mall and our family life aim is to visit them all: Dubai just had to be done!
